VHS Conversions.

Still have some VHS, VHSC, Video8, Hi8 or MiniDV tapes kicking around? If they’re still playable I can convert them to a video file for your Smart TV or YouTube. Cost is $10 per tape, irrespective of length.

Why is it half the price of the competition? I don’t own a TBC or FBC, so the quality may not be the absolute best possible. However, it is affordable, and you can check what the results should look like here:

Original MP2 File (Max quality)Convert to MP4 (Max compatibility)
Red Dwarf (Stereo, new VHS)All Samples as one MP4.
Naked Target (Stereo, ex rental VHS)
Mr Bean (Mono, recorded from TV)
CHOMPS (Worn mono ex rental VHS)
Short Circuit (Stereo, ex rental VHS)

Files are recorded as Mpeg2, 720×576, 6000kbps, 25fps.

If the first five minutes is not playable, no charge. The copy is aborted.

VHS Tapes with mold may still play OK.

For maximum compatibility with Smart TVs, files are converted to MP4. Originals also available.

Note: I’m currently unable to make stereo copies of Video8 or Hi8 tapes – one channel in the camera has failed.

You can supply your own memory sticks, or I can source them at competitive prices.

Video files can be put onto DVD at an additional cost of $10 per DVD, but I recommend you go straight to memory stick instead, as DVDs are largely obsolete.
